Brazos County District 2 VFD wins $5,000 donation from Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers
KURTEN, Texas (KBTX) – Brazos County District 2 Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $5,000 donation from the Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers ‘Jaws of Life’ campaign. The mission was to help fire departments across the state of Texas raise much-needed funding for equipment vital for saving lives.
The volunteer fire department won an online contest by garnering the most votes.
They plan on spending the donation on battery-powered extrication tools to replace their current gas-powered hydraulic ones. Commonly known as the jaws-of-life, the current tools used are heavy and burdensome, according to the VFD.
Rick Wagner, the Assistant Fire Chief, described speed as the most important element when rescuing people from car crashes.
